Get Good Sleep

by Good Mood Grocer

The secret to our most productive days is a good-night’s sleep, but we all know it’s easier said than done. The older we get, the more frequent restless nights get, and the more our sleep habits and patterns shift. So how can we, as adults, still sleep as soundly as a baby? The trick is in the way our habits in the day influence how we are in the evening.

Stick to a schedule

Figure out the most “optimal” hours of sleep you need to be able to fully function the next day. Once you do so, it’s a matter of strictly setting aside hours in the day for sleep. Give yourself a hard-stop on anything that you’re doing, and give yourself boundaries to ensure that you get the restful night’s sleep that you deserve.

Create the ideal ambience

Putting yourself in the perfect and ideal environment for you is very important, and ambience should be the number one priority. Be conscious about your senses - sight, sound, smell, feel. Do you sleep better with a night light? Do you prefer a blacked-out room? Or a dark room with shifting faint light colors? **Some find it relaxing to hear white noise in the background, or even sleep to the sound of soft music or their favorite podcast. Others on the other hand prefer to be undisturbed in total silence.

Good Mood Tip: Try Reed Diffusers from Figs & Blossoms, or Scented Candles from Bath & Body Works to set the tone for a good-night’s sleep.

Get your daily dose of endorphins

Did you know that healthy doses of endorphins can also result in better sleep for people? What we do in the day greatly affects how we sleep at night, so we also need to be mindful of our daytime activities. Try out a pilates class using our Pilates Reformer or go out for a jog and hit the ground running!

Manage your stress

A stress-free mind is a happy mind, so it’s as important to destress to get good sleep. To relax, try deep breathing exercises, reading a book before bed, taking a sip of your favorite teas from Offblak and T2, or chewing Goli Ashwagandha Gummies.

Fun-fact: Ashwagandha is classified as an adaptogen, which isa select group of plants that help your body cope with stress. Studies have shown that KSM-66® Ashwagandha reduces levels of cortisol - the stress hormone.

Consume the proper food and vitamins

Your food choices may affect how well you sleep. Less nutritious foods may reduce sleep quality, while other foods help improve sleep cycles and sleep quality. Get the right amount of nutrients through meals with the Good Mood Food range, and finish off with vitamins like Natrol Melatonin Capsules.
